Abstract: The title complex, [Sm₂(C₃H₅O₂)₆(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂], is a dinuclear centrosymmetric molecule, in which two crystallographically equivalent Sm atoms, separated by 3.9502 (2) Å, are bridged by four propanoate anions. Each Sm atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one chelating phenanthroline ligand and seven carboxylate O atoms from five propanoate anions, to form a distorted tricapped trigonal prism.
