Abstract: The title compound, [Cu(C13H11N2O)(C2N3)]·H2O, is a mononuclear copper(II) complex in which the CuII ion has a slightly distorted square-planar geometry and is coordinated by two N atoms and one O atom from the Schiff base ligand and by an N atom from dicyanamide. The O atoms of water molecules contribute to O-H
N, O-H
O hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of sheets parallel to the ac plane. There are also weak interactions between inversion-related molecules.
