Poly[[diaqua-₂-4,4'-bipyridyl-₂-o-phthalato-nickel(II)] dihydrate]

Abstract: In the title layer complex, {[Ni(C₈H₄O₄)(C₁₀H₈N₂)(H₂O)₂]·2H₂O}_n, the Ni atom has a distorted octahedral environment, defined by the phthalate and 4,4'-bipyridyl ligands which link the Ni atoms, forming a square lattice in the bc plane. This extends into a three-dimensional supramolecular network through O-HO hydrogen-bonding interactions. The Ni atom lies on, and both ligands are bisected by, a crystallographic twofold axis.
