trans-Tetraaquabis[3-(3-pyridyl)acrylato-N]cobalt(II)

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co(C₈H₆NO₂)₂(H₂O)₄], contains one half-molecule. The Co^II atom lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two N atoms of the pyridine rings of 3-(3-pyridyl)acrylate anions and four O atoms of water molecules in a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds link the molecules, forming a three-dimensional network.
