1-(Hydroxyiminomethyl)-2-naphthol

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₁H₉NO₂, was prepared by a condensation reaction of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with hydroxylammonium chloride in refluxing ethanol. An intramolecular O-HN hydrogen bond is observed. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-HO and C-HO hydrogen-bond interactions result in a two-dimensional network.
