Abstract: In the cation of the title compound, C18H13N2+·NO3-, the two bicyclic ring systems form a dihedral angle of 3.84 (4)°. The nitrate anion is disordered over two orientations in a 0.9:0.1 ratio. In the crystal structure, the cations form stacks along the a axis, with short intermolecular contacts [C
C = 3.330 (3) and 3.345 (4) Å], and link to the anions via N-H
O hydrogen bonds.
