Abstract: In the title mononuclear complex, [Cu(NO3)(C12H10N4)(H2O)]NO3, the CuII ion assumes a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. There is a
-
stacking interaction between the five-membered ring containing the Cu atom and a pyridine ring of a neighboring complex [centroid-centroid distance = 3.567 (2) Å and a perpendicular distance of 3.394 Å]. The crystal structure also contains intermolecular N-H
O, O-H
O and C-H
O hydrogen bonds, linking cations and anions. In addition, there is a short intermolecular contact [2.784 (6) Å] between an O atom of the coordinated nitrate group and its symmetry-related atom.
