5,5-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-3-methylcyclohex-2-enone

Abstract: In the title compound, C₉H₁₄O₃, the cyclohexenone ring has an envelope conformation; the flap atom (with the hydroxymethyl groups attached) is displaced by 0.582 (4) Å from the plane of the other five ring atoms. The crystal structure contains an intermolecular O-HO hydrogen-bonded ring.
