Piperidinium 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoate

Abstract: The crystals of the title salt, C₅H₁₂N⁺·C₁₁H₇O₃^-, were obtained from a methanol/water solution of 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and piperidine at room temperature. In the crystal structure, the piperidinium cations display a chair conformation and link with hydroxynaphthoate anions via N-HO and C-HO hydrogen bonds. An intramolecular O-HO interaction is also present.
