3-Hydroxy-N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)benzohydrazide

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₁₂N₂O₃, was synthesized by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with 3-hydroxybenzohydrazide. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 12.4 (2)°. The 2-hydroxy group forms an intramolecular O-HN hydrogen bond with the imide N atom. Molecules are linked through intermolecular O-HO and N-HO hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to the ab plane.
