catena-Poly[[bis(1-ethylimidazole-N³)cobalt(II)]--isophthalato-²O¹:O³]

Abstract: In the title compound, [Co(C₈H₄O₄)(C₅H₈N₂)₂]_n, each cobalt(II) ion is coordinated by two N and two O atoms in a distorted tetrahedral geometry. The isophthalate ligands bridge the metal ions to form polymeric zigzag chains extending along the b axis. Weak C-HO interactions contribute to the crystal packing stability.
