Abstract: In the title compound, C₄H₁₂N⁺·C₉H₃Cl₄O₄^-, the benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 62.4 (2) and 64.0 (3)°, respectively, with the essentially planar methoxycarbonyl and carboxylate groups. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N-HO hydrogen bonds connect anions and cations, forming one-dimensional chains along [010].
