catena-Poly[[diaqua(4,4'-trimethylenedipyridine-N)cobalt(II)]--terephthalato-²O¹:O⁴]

Abstract: The title compound, [Co(C₈H₄O₄)(C₁₃H₁₄N₂)₂(H₂O)₂]_n, was obtained by the reaction of CoCl₂, 4,4'-trimethylenedipyridine and terephthalic acid in a 1:1:1 ratio. The octahedrally coordinated cobalt ions are bridged by 4,4'-trimethylenedipyridine ligands, generating a chain. These chains are further linked by O-HO and O-HN hydrogen bonds, giving a three-dimensional network.
