Bis(phenanthridinium) hexachloridoplatinate(IV) dimethyl sulfoxide disolvate

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C₁₃H₁₀N)₂[PtCl₆]·2C₂H₆OS, contains one independent protonated phenanthridinium cation, half of a centrosymmetric [PtCl₆]^2-anion and one dimethyl sulfoxide solvent molecule. Intramolecular N-HO and intermolecular C-HCl hydrogen-bonding interactions seem to be effective in the stabilization of the structure.
