Poly[aquabis(-benzene-1,2-dicarboxylato)ethanoltetralithium]

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound [Li₄(C₈H₄O₄)₂(C₂H₅OH)(H₂O)]_n, there are four crystallographically independent metal centers each of which is coordinated by four O atoms. The benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate groups act as bidentate-bridging ligands producing a two-dimensional coordination network parallel to the ab plane. The coordination polymer is further stabilized by coordination of water and ethanol molecules by the Li⁺ ions. Simultaneously, the water and ethanol molecules are involved in O-HO and C-H interactions.
