Methyl 5-bromo-2-[methyl(methylsulfonyl)amino]benzoate

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₀H₁₂BrNO₄S, is an intermediate in the synthesis of benzothiazine. The planar methyl ester group (maximum deviation is 0.0065 Å) is oriented at a dihedral angle of 39.09 (13)° with respect to the aromatic ring. In the crystal structure, weak intermolecular C-HO interactions link the molecules into centrosymmetric dimers, through R₂²(10) ring motifs.
