Dichlorido{2-[(4-iodophenyl)iminomethyl]pyridine-²N,N'}copper(II)

Abstract: The Cu^II atom in the title complex, [CuCl₂(C₁₂H₉IN₂)], has a square-planar coordination being N,N'-chelated by the Schiff base ligand, and by two Cl atoms. The geometry is distorted towards square pyramidal owing to a long CuCl interaction of 2.941 (1) Å. This results in the formation of a zigzag chain structure propagating in the c-axis direction.
