Abstract: The molecule of the title compound, C12H9NO2, is not planar, the benzene and pyridine rings making a dihedral angle of 32.14 (7)°. The carboxy group is slightly twisted with respect to the benzene ring by 11.95 (10)°. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-H
N hydrogen bonds link neighboring molecules into infinite chains along the c axis.
