Sodium N-chloro-2-methylbenzenesulfonamidate sesquihydrate

Abstract: In the title salt, Na⁺·C₇H₇ClNO₂S^-·1.5H₂O, one of the water molecules lies on a twofold axis. The sodium ion shows an O₆ octahedral coordination defined by three water O atoms and three sulfonyl O atoms derived from three different anions. The S-N distance of 1.5898 (19) Å is consistent with an S=N double bond. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-HO and O-HCl hydrogen bonds.
