(E)-3-Dimethylamino-1-(2-pyridyl)prop-2-en-1-one

Abstract: The molecule of the title compound, C₁₀H₁₂N₂O, is approximately planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.072 Å from the mean plane for the non-H atoms. It was synthesized from 2-acetylpyridine and N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal in a one-step reaction.
