Abstract: In the cation of the title compound, C₇H₇N₂⁺·Br^-, the nitrile group and the benzene ring are almost coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0043 Å). In the crystal, the cations and anions are connected by intermolecular N-HBr hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (010).
