Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title MnII coordination polymer, {[Mn2(C8H6O8)(H2O)3]·H2O}n, contains two crystallographically independent MnII cations, two half butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylato anions, each lying on a centre of inversion, and four water molecules. The MnII cation has a distorted octahedral coordination environment. One Mn centre is coordinated by four carboxylate O atoms from two different anions and two water O atoms. The other Mn centre is coordinated by five carboxylate O atoms from four different anions and one water O atom. One water molecule does not coordinate to a Mn centre. The crystal packing is stabilized by several O-H
O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework.
