Abstract: In the title molecule, C14H12N2, the benzimidazole ring system is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.024 Å). The dihedral angle between the imidazole ring and the benzyl ring is 85.77 (4)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked into chains along the a axis by C-H
N hydrogen bonds. In addition, the packing is stabilized by C-H
interactions involving both six-membered rings.
