Bis(2,2'-bi-1H-imidazole-²N³,N^3')bis(4-methylbenzoato-O)copper(II)

Abstract: In title compound, [Cu(C₈H₇O₂)₂(C₆H₆N₄)₂], the Cu^II atom (site symmetry ) is coordinated by two N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-biimidazole ligands and two weakly bonded 4-methylbenzoate anions, resulting in a strongly elongated trans-CuO₂N₄ octahedral geometry. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked via pairs of N-HO hydrogen bonds into chains propagating in [010].
