Abstract: Cocrystallization of 4-carboxypiperdine with 5-nitroisophthalic acid afforded the title salt, 2C6H12NO2+·C8H3NO62-, in which the heterocyclic N atoms are protonated and the carboxylic acid groups are deprotonated. In the crystal, intermolecular N-H
O and O-H
O hydrogen-bonding interactions assemble the ions into a three-dimensional network.
