Bis(4-carboxypiperidinium) 5-nitroisophthalate

Abstract: Cocrystallization of 4-carboxypiperdine with 5-nitroisophthalic acid afforded the title salt, 2C₆H_12NO₂⁺·C₈H₃NO₆^2-, in which the heterocyclic N atoms are protonated and the carboxylic acid groups are deprotonated. In the crystal, intermolecular N-HO and O-HO hydrogen-bonding interactions assemble the ions into a three-dimensional network.
