Abstract: In the title coordination polymer, [Sr(C₁₆H₁₃O₃)₂(H₂O)₂]_n, the Sr^II cation is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from four different 2-(3-benzoylphenyl)propanoate ligands and two O atoms of two water molecules in a distorted dodecahedral geometry. Adjacent Sr^II cations are bridged by two 2-(3-benzoylphenyl)propanoate ligands, forming an infinite chain along the b axis; the chains are further linked by intermolecular O-H-O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
