Abstract: In the title compound, C14H12O4, the indene unit is essentially planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0309 (1) Å] and the cyclopentanone ring adopts a twist form. In the crystal, molecules are joined via pairs of O-H
O hydrogen bonds into centrosymmetric dimers.
