Abstract: In the title coordination polymer, {[Nd(C₅H₂N₃O₆)(C₂O₄)(H₂O)₄]·4H₂O}_n, the oxalate dianions link adjacent nine-coordinate, tricapped trigonal-prismatic Nd(III) atoms into a chain running along the b axis. The 3,5-dinitropyridin-4-oxido N-oxide ligand is formally a zwitterionic anion; the anion binds to the metal atom through the N-oxide O atom. The chains are connected into a three-dimensional network by O-HO hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated and uncoordinated water molecules.
