Abstract: The title compound, C14H10Cl2N2O, was prepared from the reaction of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde with 3-chlorobenzohydrazide in methanol. The molecule adopts an E configuration about the methylidene unit and the two aromatic rings form a dihedral angle of 13.8 (2)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked via intermolecular N-H
O and C-H
O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c axis.
