{N-[1-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)ethylidene-N³]-3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propan-1-amine-N}dibromidomercury(II)

Abstract: In the title compound, [HgBr₂(C₁₅H₁₇N₅)], the Hg^II ion is tetrahedrally coordinated by two N atoms of the N-[1-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethylidene-N]-3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propan-1-amine ligand, and two bromide anions. Intermolecular benzimidazole-imidazole N-HN hydrogen bonds link the molecules into helical chains along the b-axis direction and C-HBr hydrogen bonds link these chains into layers parallel to the bc plane.
