2N,N'}zincAbstract: In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [ZnCl2(C14H14N2)], the central ZnII ion is four-coordinated in a distorted tetrahedral environment by two N atoms of the ligand 2-[(2,6-dimethylphenyl)iminomethyl]pyridine and two chloride anions. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are connected through C-H
Cl hydrogen bonds between a C-H group of the ligand and a Cl- anion, leading to a chain-like structure along the b direction.
