Dimorpholinium tetrachloridocobaltate(II)

Abstract: In the title molecular salt, (C₄H₁₀NO)₂[CoCl₄], the morpholinium cations adopt chair conformations and the tetrachloridocobaltate(II) anion is significantly distorted from regular tetrahedral geometry [Cl-Co-Cl = 102.183 (19)-117.59 (2)°]. The Co-Cl bond lengths for the chloride ions not accepting hydrogen bonds are significantly shorter than those for the chloride ions accepting such bonds. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-HO and N-HCl and bifurcated N-H(O,Cl) hydrogen bonds to generate (100) sheets.
