3-(6-Aminopyridinium-3-yl)benzoate monohydrate

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₂H₁₀N₂O₂·H₂O, crystallizes as a zwitterion in which the pyridine N atom is protonated and the carboxyl OH group is deprotonated. The benzene and pyridinium rings are inclined at a dihedral angle of 54.93 (1)°. In the crystal, O-HO and N-HO hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
