Abstract: In the title compound, C10H10O2, the 1-indanone unit is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.028 Å). In the crystal, molecules are linked via C-HO hydrogen bonds, forming layers lying parallel to the ab plane. This two-dimensional structure is stabilized by a weak C-H interaction. A second weak C-H interaction links the layers, forming a three-dimensional structure.
