Abstract: In the title compound, [CdI₂(C₁₂H₁₂N₂)(C₃H₇NO)], the Cd^II cation is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal configuration by two N atoms from a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand, one O atom from a dimethylformamide ligand and two I^- anions. - stacking between pyridine rings of adjacent molecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.666 (3) and 3.709 (4) Å] stabilizes the three-dimensional structure
