Poly[[diaqua([mu]4-benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylato)tetrakis(1H-imidazole-[kappa]N3)dicopper(II)] N,N-dimethylformamide monosolvate]

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, {[Cu2(C10H2O8)(C3H4N2)4(H2O)2]·C3H7NO}n, contains two independent CuII ions, each coordinated by one water molecule, two imidazole N atoms and two carboxylate O atoms from benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylate anions in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylate anion bridges four CuII ions, forming a polymeric sheet parallel to (010). In the crystal, extensive N-H...O and O-H...O hydrogen bonds link the polymeric sheets and dimethylformamide solvent molecules into a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.
