Synopsis: Structures of IPMDH from the obligate piezophile S. benthica DB21MT-2 (SbIPMDH) and the nonpiezophile S. oneidensis MR-1 (SoIPMDH) were determined at atmospheric pressure. Comparison of the structures revealed that SbIPMDH is in a more open conformation and has a larger internal cavity volume than SoIPMDH.
