standards for structural and crystallization communications - estimation of resolution limits

Authors are expected to estimate resolution limits based on commonly accepted measures of the extent of the intensity distribution. Some of these measures are currently designated as required for publication while others are not. Nevertheless, if requested by an editor, authors will be required to provide a value for any such measure, currently required or not, if in the editor's judgement that value is needed by readers to judge whether the authors have made a reasonable estimate of resolution. Included in such request may be a value for Rr.i.m. or the d-spacing (Å) at which <I/σ(I)> = 2, for example, or other similar measures of the extent of the intensity distribution.
