The r.m.s. rotor components (amplitudes of rotation of polyhedra) in the dynamic disorder of quartz. The r.m.s. values of the rotor components show different behaviour for the XY and the Z components with temperature. Rotations about the Z axis appear more constrained than those about the X and Y axes in the high-symmetry phase.
