Map of one layer from a cylinder of high-purity nickel. Each element in the two-dimensional triangular mesh was fitted independently. The colour scale represents orientation space. Black lines in the maps show mesh edges separating triangles with more than a 2° misorientation. From the work by Hefferan et al. (2009BB18) performed at the HEDM beamline at the APS.
