The loading-induced (peak shift and) broadening of the 311 reflection recorded for a Cu thin film (at a tilt angle of ψ = 45°; radiation [\lambda = 1.52933] Å). The state of biaxially rotationally symmetric tensile stress (280 MPa) was imposed by cooling to 153 K. The inset reveals the difference in broadening for loaded and unloaded states by scaling and shifting the peak maximum positions, such that the peak maxima coincide.
