Two possible methods of the assembly of our compound lens. While the two configurations are optically equivalent, the assembly in (a) can average the systematic errors in the shape of the lens upon pressing. However, lenses stick by vertices and can be mechanically deformed. In the case of (b) the eventual systematic errors are not averaged, but the vertices are not the subject of the mechanical stress.  [article HTML]
