Schematic of the 2-ID-E X-ray fluorescence microprobe instrument at the APS. X-rays from the APS are monochromated, and a Fresnel zone plate is used to produce a small spot through which the sample is scanned. A segmented transmission detector is used to record the signal used to obtain DPC images, and an X-ray fluorescence detector (SII Vortex) is used to collect the X-ray fluorescence spectrum at each pixel.
