Mean-square amplitudes of translational motion in the inertial frame plotted against T. For clarity, the T21 and T22 curves have been shifted up the vertical axis by 0.02 and 0.01 units, respectively, and the ordinate scales must be adjusted accordingly. The curves have the form `a coth (b/T)', where the `a's have been found from coth (b/T) → 1 as T → 0, and the `b's from coth (b/T) → T/b for small b/T.
