(a) Crystal structures of 2-chlorophenol at ambient pressure and 100 K. Helices are formed about 32 axes by OH⋯OH hydrogen-bond formation. (b) The crystal structure of 2-chlorophenol at 0.12 GPa. The application of pressure changes the behaviour of the chlorophenyl substituent so that chains are formed where molecules are related by a 21 screw axis.
