Projection of the basic structure of KNbOB₂O₅ along b. Despite a low R value (R₁ = 0.028) for the basic structure (in the space group Pmn2₁), the displacement ellipsoids in the right part of the picture clearly show that there are inherent problems owing to the modulation (see below).
