Photomicrograph (partially polarized light) of an EII-α (monoclinic) to EIII-β (triclinic) transition in p-dichlorobenzene. It was initiated by a slight prick of a needle in the parent (EII-α) phase which created a local damaged area with nucleation sites for a cluster of EIII-β crystals growing in different directions. Each crystal of the cluster has its own set of natural faces not appearing in others. The natural faces of the parent crystal are seen at both corners on the right.
