Modulated corrugations in the crystal structure of the superconductor CaAlSi

Reconstructed image of the $[(h\bar{h}0l)]$ reciprocal plane of the sixfold superstructure of CaAlSi. The strong reflections correspond to the average structure with the symmetry P6/mmm; they are separated along the c* axis (horizontal) by five superstructure reflections. Diffuse scattering is observed around the Bragg peaks. The intensities are rescaled to the interval 0 (white) to 100 (black); the stronger peaks are clipped (highest intensity in this figure: over 64 000 counts per pixel).
