Scheme of phases in the K–Co–Mo–O system (Engel, 2007BB10). Under ambient conditions, all known phases belong to one of two classes, either ortho-oxomolybdates with isolated MoO4 tetrahedra (green line) or members of the K2nCoMo2 + nO7 + 4n family of compounds (blue line), characterized by face-sharing MoO6 and CoO6 octahedra, where the members with n = 2, 3 and 5 are known.
