Figure 2
Formation of multiple interactions by ethynyl groups: (a) C—C≡C—H⋯O and O—H⋯ π(C≡C) bonds in BETXAZ (Lin et al., 1982BB17); (b) C—C⋯C—H⋯π(phenyl) and N—H⋯π(C≡C) and C(phenyl)—H⋯π(C≡C) in BUPQAE01 (Dey et al., 2003BB9); (c) C—C≡C—H⋯O and C—C≡C—H⋯π(C≡C) bifurcation together with O—H⋯ π(C≡C) bonds in PICMAQ (Milroy et al., 2007BB23). Note that Mercury (Macrae et al., 2006BB20, 2008BB19) draws triple bonds on the surface of a cylinder which are clearly visible when manipulated in three dimensions. In planar views it is not always possible to show all three `components' of the triple bond and these bonds look like double bonds in most diagrams shown in this paper.
